What is CustomVue Lasik?

CustomVue LASIK impressive results are made possible by the VISX WaveScan® system. WaveScan® technology was originally developed for use in high-powered telescopes to reduce distortions when viewing distant objects in space. This advanced technology is now used to measure a person’s vision to a level of precision not previously possible. The WaveScan system is 25 times more precise for measuring visual imperfections than the technology commonly used to prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses.

“The WaveScan system measures the eye and produces a detailed map. Then, the digital information is transferred directly to the VISX STAR S4™ Excimer Laser System for correction,” explains Dr. Larson. “This technology provides a high level of precision and accuracy for optimizing each patient’s vision based on their specific needs.”

CustomVue treatment uses the WaveScan system to measure and map the entire optical path of an eye. The resulting map produces a “fingerprint” of a patient’s vision, providing the doctor with a precise and de­tailed guide to treatment.
